Overview
This invitation system was designed for the opening of the Synapse Experience Center in San Jose. Instead of creating a standard event invite, I wanted the piece to feel like the beginning of the experience itself. The final concept used materiality, layered reveal, and location-based storytelling to create anticipation before guests arrived.
Challenge
The invitation needed to do more than communicate event details. It had to introduce the feeling of the Synapse Experience Center and make recipients feel like they were being invited into something immersive, innovative, and memorable.
Strategy
I approached the invitation as a physical brand experience. The concept was built around discovery. The metal card acted as the premium invitation piece, while the holder created a visual moment that revealed the San Jose location when the card was lifted.
This interaction reflected the idea of a synapse activating. The design connected the brand name, the event location, and the guest experience into one simple motion.
Execution
The system included a metal invitation card, a custom graphic holder, and a layered reveal concept. The visual direction used energy, connection, and movement to suggest the idea of a network powering the San Jose location.
Every detail was designed to make the invitation feel intentional, from the tactile quality of the metal card to the hidden reveal beneath it.
Impact
The final piece turned a simple event invitation into a memorable brand touchpoint. It helped create anticipation, reinforced the innovation behind the Synapse name, and gave recipients a preview of the experience before they entered the space.
